EL ARENAL
We intentionally avoided Magaluf and Palmanova as those places are occupied by English and Irish tourists, no offence to the Brits and Irish, but we did not plan to go on a long lasting drinking session nor were we keen on be grilled like a chicken in the hot sun, we simply wanted to see the Majorca of the Majorcans!
We landed in El Arenal, not knowing that this is the Ballermann of the Germans, an area where mainly German people and Dutch enjoy themselves the same way like the Brits and Irish in Magaluf.
So, if you want to get to know the real Majorca, you have to go to different places on the island.
Wir vermieden Magaluf und Palmanova, da vorwiegend Engländer und irische Touristen von diesen Orten Besitz ergriffen haben. Das soll keine Beleidigung für die Briten und Iren sein, aber wir hatten weder eine langanhaltende Trinksession geplant, noch wollten wir unsere Körper täglich in der heissen Sonne schmoren lassen, wie Grillhühner am Spiess! Wir wollten einfach nur das Mallorca der Mallorcaner sehen!
MIDLANDS
We did not see much grass in the midlands, but red soil instead and lots of olive trees. There are numerous windmills spread all over the land, they operate as water pumps.
Wir haben nicht viel Gras im Landesinneren gesehen, stattdessen rote Erde mit unzähligen Olivenbäumen. Man sieht viele Windmühlen verstreut am Land, diese fungieren als Wasserpumpen.
